To Blog or Not to Blog

Let's get this out of the way. I don't like the word "blog." It reminds me of a bog, with murky water, algae, and insects. Nothing pleasant about that. And, I admit that when I first heard about "blogging," I thought it was terribly indulgent. Do these "bloggers" really think they have something worthwhile to say or that anyone cares to listen to their trivialities?

With this cynical attitude, why am I here now? I'm certainly not under the impression that anyone cares about my opinions or that I will solve the world's problems with my keen insight. My trivialities are no more valid than anyone elses'. Upon further reflection, though, the value I see in these online diaries is the potential for broadening perspectives or forging a sense of kinship (you know, that comforting feeling you get when you say "hey, I feel that way too!"). All indulgences aside, aren't these worthy intentions?

So, this is simply my humble contribution. I exist in this world. This is what I think about and what moves me at this moment in time. Take from it what you will, or not. This is my portrait.
